Bok Tower

One of the most peaceful and enriching places in the world. We call it Florida's Higher Place, in part because Historic Bok Sanctuary sits atop peninsular Florida's highest point, but also because of the effect its beauty, serenity and historical intrigue have upon all who visit.

Whether you have just one hour or a full day, you'll find so much to experience.

Celebrating 75 Years of Artistic Inspiration - Historic Bok Sanctuary is a unique living masterpiece of architecture, history and nature. Dedicated by President Coolidge in 1929, the Sanctuary was a gift of gratitude to America from Dutch immigrant Edward Bok. The Sanctuary has inspired more than 23 million visitors from around the world.

Education and Visitor Center - Docents will answer any questions you have, and you can view an informative nine-minute orientation film in the theatre.

Exhibit Hall & Museum - This award-winning exhibit hall gives you a historical perspective on the life of Edward W. Bok. Other featured topics include the story of the Sanctuary's creation, the art forms of its famous craftsmen and a fascinating overview of the habitat and topography.

Gardens - The gardens at Historic at Bok Sanctuary comprise a historic landscape garden. The informal woodland gardens complement the Florida native live oak hammock with a mix of native and exotic plants, typifying the work of the famous Olmsted Brothers firm. The gardens, which contain over 1,000 plant types, were designed as a meditative woodland landscape and nature preserve. Paths meander through open spaces and plantings to create tranquil resting spots with picturesque vistas of the Tower and the Florida countryside.
