April 04 - Preschool Story Time Easter Celebration - Program includes songs, story-telling, crafts, and treat handouts for preschoolers. Time: 10-11 a.m.  at the Dundee Public Library. Call: 863-439-9424.

April 12 - DEAR - Drop Everything And Read day. The library will be asking patrons to drop everything and read for a least 30 minutes on this day. We will keep tract of how many in each age group that reads their 30 minutes (Children, Young Adults and Adults). Patrons being honest is taken for granted. They don't win anything but the knowledge from reading for 30 minutes at least and being a part of the age group that read the most.
Which will be announced in my next monthly report in May for April and in the Chamber newsletter.

April 15 - 21 is National Library Week. Patrons will receive a nice incentive just for visiting our library and filling out one of our surveys during this week. They will be asked six questions pertaining to Library Services and what we can do to better serve them in the library.

April 28 - the Library Advisory Board will be hosting a Volunteer Recognition Breakfast at 11:00 a.m. at the Dundee Chamber of Commerce.  Recognizing our 2006 Volunteers for the year. Certificates and volunteer pins will be given out to each volunteer. A name will be engraved on a name plate of the name of the top Volunteer of the year that is placed on a Plaque that displays in the library each year.

April 30
- El día de los niños/El día de los libros, (Children's Day/Book
Day) Niños Books Fiesta! - Our Program includes songs, Spanish story telling, crafts, and handouts for the whole family. Come to our library and join us in all the fun at 3:00 p.m. ("We registered our event by April 1 to ALA (American Library Association) in order to receive and with their children. We hope by having this program in our library that it will help them to start and continue.

Volunteers

We are always looking for good volunteers willing to help us.
Please contact us if you would like to volunteer!

All year, from January 1 to December 31 each year we keep track of all our volunteer hours our volunteers put into our library. We honor the top volunteer who puts the most hours into our library for the year at our Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon. Each volunteer no matter how much time they put into our library is invited and recognized with a certificate. And if they donate a minimum of 20 hours for the year they will receive their certificate and a really nice volunteer pin also. The top volunteer with the most hours also receives a very nice gift and their name and their volunteer year are engraved on a name plate and put on a nice plaque we display in our library at the circulation desk for everyone to see. Our Volunteer Recognition Luncheon date will be announced later here on our library web site, under CURRENT EVENTS. We just want to add one more thing as the library director and staff, we truly appreciate ALL our volunteers. (Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.

Daughters of the American Revolution Display

Daughters of the American Revolution has done a beautiful display in the adult section of the Dundee Public Library for the month of September.  They came in and set it all up and did a very nice job.  Patrons enjoyed viewing all the items and information they had displayed at our library for this month.

The Chapter of DAR that did this display is called Ponce de Leon and they are from Winter Haven.  Also they did this for the month of September and especially for Constitution Week (Sept 17 - 23).
